Kristocentric Station

American actor Denzel Washington, renowned for his award-winning performances, took a major step in his spiritual journey over the weekend. The “Gladiator II” star was baptized and received his minister’s license at the Kelly Temple Church of God in Christ in Harlem, NY. The ceremony, conducted by Archbishop Christopher Bryant, marked a profound moment in Washington’s life, as he prepares for ordination in the future.

Washington reflected on how this moment fulfilled a prophecy spoken over his life at 20 years old by a woman named Ruth Green, who told him he would “travel the world and preach to millions of people.” He shared, “Fifty years later, look at God. If He can do this for me, there’s nothing He can’t do for you.” Thanking his wife of 41 years, Pauletta Washington, for her unwavering support, he expressed his gratitude and commitment to serve God.

The actor’s faith journey spans decades, marked by supernatural encounters and moments of transformation. Washington admitted that, in his youth, he initially resisted going deeper into his relationship with God. However, these experiences ultimately shaped his understanding of his purpose—to glorify God and testify to His power and grace.

Matthew 7:21 underscores Washington’s journey: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.” His story reminds believers that worldly titles, fame, or wealth do not secure entry into heaven—only doing God’s will does. As Joshua 24:15 urges, “Choose this day whom you will serve.”

Believers are encouraged to prioritize serving God above all else, living for Christ in every way. Washington’s transformation is a testament that God’s plan for our lives exceeds anything we could imagine when we dedicate ourselves fully to Him.
