The Royalhouse Chapel, Immanuel Temple, Legon, was filled with a unique and stirring atmosphere as Ghanaian Christian opera singer, Kojo Sam, headlined “A Christmas Crescendo” on Friday, 27th December 2024. The event brought a fresh wave of musical artistry to the Christmas season, showcasing the grandeur of opera within a Christian context.

Kojo Sam, known for his powerful and emotional vocal performances, led the evening with a captivating repertoire. His performance included cherished songs such as In Christ Alone, Ave Maria, and He Lives in Me, each rendered with a depth of emotion that left the audience in awe. In addition to his exceptional vocal abilities, Kojo Sam has an impressive track record of achievements. He has performed for several important dignitaries, including U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, and all presidents of the Republic of Ghana, from the late H.E. John Evans Atta-Mills to the current president, H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The event wasn’t solely about Kojo Sam, as his students also shared the stage. Francina, Audrey, Conrad, and Emmanuel, all trained in vocal techniques under Kojo’s guidance, performed beautifully, ministering Christmas carols and other soul-lifting songs. Their dedication and talent underscored Kojo Sam’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of opera singers.
In an interview with Christian News Anchor Yeboah Edwin Takyi, Kojo Sam shared his passion for opera and his determination to bring the genre into the Christian space. “A Christmas Crescendo” was not just an evening of music but a celebration of an underappreciated art form—Christian opera. Attendees expressed their admiration for the skill and spirit displayed on stage, calling for more events of this caliber to enrich the Christian music landscape in Ghana.
