CHRISTIANS WORRY AS THE RIVER EUPHRATES DRIES UP
Christians around the world are keeping a close eye on the drying river of Euphrates as they fear the passing of a Biblical prophecy.

The massive river which is over 2,800 km long is a part of the twin Tigris-Euphrates river system. It rises in Turkey and flows southeast across Syria and through Iraq. However, the low rainfall that has hit these parts of the country has caused the river to drastically reduce. Experts predict that the river Euphrates would completely dry up by 2040 if the rains do not fall soon and in large quantities.

This is not however the reason Christians across the world are growing in fear of the river drying up. The river Euphrates holds significant spiritual relevance to Christians as it is emphasized by the Bible to be the indicator of the coming of key events.
This great river serves as a boundary preventing the Biblical ‘Kings of the East’ from moving to make war. In Revelations 16: 12, the Scriptures say “Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River. The river dried up, to provide a way for the kings who come from the east”.
Many also believe that the river serves as a prison for the four angels. According to Revelations 9:14 - 16, the sixth angel who poured out his bowl on the river causing it to dry up will order the release of the four angels imprisoned at the river. The purpose of these angels is to do one thing. They are to kill a third of mankind and their armies would be 200,000,000 in number.
