People find Christ in unexpected situations. Some find Him on their deathbed, others in the church, and others in places hard to mention. In the case of 36-year-old, American actor, Shia Lebeouf, he found Christ whiles preparing for a movie role.

The actor who played the lead role in the box office smash hit, The Transformers, opened up about his salvation during an interview with Bishop Robert Barron. The actor said God broke through to him while he stayed in a monastery in preparation for his lead role as a Franciscan friar in an upcoming biopic. At a point in time, it was no more about preparing for a scene but rather it had moved on to something more.

Although he never viewed himself as an atheist, he always argued about everything. Prior to him discovering the saving power of Christ, he recalled hurting a lot of people with his actions. He became overwhelmed with shame to the point that he considered committing suicide until he received the call for the movie.

The movie which sets to premier on September 9th, chronicles the interesting and controversial life of the late Italian priest, Padre Pio, at a point in which he had no friends in his life. LeBeouf remembered then sensing a “deep desire to hold on” as he began reading the Bible for the film.

“It was seeing other people who have sinned beyond anything I could ever conceptualize also being found in Christ that made me feel hopeful. I started hearing experiences of other depraved people who had found their way in this, and it made me feel like I could do the same” explained LeBeouf. Currently, he is born again and seeks to live his life for Christ.

Such testimonies are always uplifting to the spirit knowing that no one is beyond saving. GOD always seeks to save everyone from destruction regardless of stature, wealth, or race, through the saving power of Christ. In 2 Peter 3:9, the Word helps to understand that the main aim of Christ is to save all people from destruction. It is His pleasure and aim and as believers it should the purpose. The time for sleeping is over. A time to proclaim the Gospel not just with our lips but also with our lifestyle has come.
