On the 8th of October 2022, several old and new members of her church stormed to the church premises to demand money they claimed she promised to double for them. According to them, the evangelist who is set to reappear in court on the 13th of October asked the members to deposit money which she promised to double for them through her spiritual purification. She is currently facing seven (7) counts of defrauding by pretense and charlatanic advertisements on TV and in newspapers to lure her victims.
When questioned regarding the allegations raised against her, Nana Agradaa said they were untrue. In explaining what ensued, she explained that she only received offerings from the members which she then shared amongst her church members to help fund their business. She further added that those who claimed she had defrauded them failed to register early to receive a share of the money for their purposes and as such were unlucky.
In a statement issued by the Ghana Police on the 9th of October 2022, “Anyone who is a victim of the alleged money doubling scam should report to the Accra Regional Police Command. For further action and to assist in the investigation.

This is however not the first case of believers being taken advantage of by leaders in the faith. In 2019, an unknown man of GOD went viral when he instructed his female church members to strip naked and undergo purification by him. The level of faith these believers have in them causes them to take extreme actions in the name of faith.
In dealing with blindly following men of GOD, Prophet Gilbert Ossei in the Searching the Scriptures series highlighted that there are believers who follow GOD through rumour. These believers rely solely on the man of GOD for all their knowledge of GOD without seeking to understand HIM themselves. This according to him, causes believers to have several misconceptions about the Father which is easily capitalized on.
In Matthew 7:15, the Bible encourages all believers to be cautious of false prophets and supposed men of GOD. This does not seek to discredit all church leaders but rather aims at encouraging believers to study the Word of GOD for themselves. This would serve as the benchmark to verify teachings and practices communicated by preachers.
