The 42-year-old Nigerian Gospel artiste met her demise on the 8th of April 2022, in a hospital in Abuja after allegedly battling with respiratory illness. She was rushed to the hospital by her husband, Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, after passing out. The couple are blessed with four (4) children: Three (3) sons and a daughter.
The artiste who was the lead singer of Dunamis International Church had released several songs over the course of her career, most of them being in Igbo, including Ama Mi O, Oku na ere ere, Oke Mmuo, GOD of Power, The Cry and many more.
She rose to fame for her hit song “EKWUEME” which she was featured on by Prosper Ochimana in 2017.
However, the family of the singer have dismissed the reported cause of death, as they claim the main cause of death was as a result of domestic violence which the singer experienced at the hands of her husband.
In an interview with Vanguard Nigeria, the singers’ elder sister, Ms. Favour Madu, told the newspaper, her sister was kicked in the chest by her husband which resulted in a cluster of blood in the area causing her to lose her life.
The sister further stated that the abuse had been going on for some time and the family had confronted the singer to push for a divorce. However, according to her, the singer declined as she was against the idea of divorce and believed he would change for the better.
The Senior Pastor of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre Worldwide, Dr. Paul Enenche, during a service, addressed the death of his lead singer; in his statement, he said the Singer, months prior to her death, complained about respiratory issues and chest pain; he prayed with her and instructed her to consult a specialist at the National Hospital, Abuja for tests and treatment which were done. According to Dr. Enenche, the deceased’s health improved after treatment; it was after her death when the news of the domestic abuse she was experiencing broke before he got to know; and her close associates confirmed the news to be true.
Furthermore, he stated that, those around her prior to her death told him that the deceased had pleaded with them not to inform him about the abuse. Dr. Enenche, vehemently condemns domestic abuse in any form in marriage.
The mother of the late singer in an interview with BBC Igbo revealed that, Osinachi left the marriage for over a year but returned after her husband came to beg.
