You Say By Lauren Daigle

It was the day after her very first Dove Awards and Lauren was completely overwhelmed. She says she walked into the studio and her producers were asking how she was doing? She said she felt like so much had happened the night before, how does she come back down to normal, to reality.

It was the first time they had written sing ‘How can it be?’

She said she realized a pattern of really high highs and then a low, really high highs and then a low. She began to question her identity and where she fit in. she says she felt pretty conflicted and wondered where all of it was going.

Lauren was at this cross road where she could see the past, she knew exactly where she had come from and could see where things were going and she needed those two worlds to marry.

She was dealing with the issue of identity; trying to figure out how to exist when it felt like so many things were pulling her in some many different directions.

She says a lot of the time, we build these complexes about ourselves based on lies, rejection, insecurities we have to constantly overcome. This song is a reminder of her identity in Christ, and figuring out how to let go of the lies and embrace the truth in her everyday life no matter how she feels.

Lyrics

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough

Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up

Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low

Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know

Ooh-oh

You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing

You say I am strong when I think I am weak

And you say I am held when I am falling short

And when I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours

And I believe

Oh, I believe

What You say of me

I believe

The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me

In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity

Ooh-oh

You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing

You say I am strong when I think I am weak

And you say I am held when I am falling short

When I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours

And I believe

Oh, I believe

What You say of me

Oh, I believe

Taking all I have, and now I'm laying it at Your feet

You have every failure, God, You have every victory

Ooh-oh

You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing

You say I am strong when I think I am weak

You say I am held when I am falling short

When I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours

And I believe

Oh, I believe

What You say of me

I believe

Oh, I believe

Yes, I believe

What You say of me

I believe
